1.11793 Humanities: Art of the Western World.
In this essay, Renaissance art is discussed in terms of perspective representations. This paper indicates how the altered use of perspective in particular Italian frescos reconfigured not only visual space within the paintings themselves, but also the architectural space of the chapels where they were drawn. By bringing the physical space and the visual field into perspectives of real and divine representations, the Renaissance artists were re-inventing a relationship between the individual and God. The artist - as creator - creates a relationship where the divine is constructed in the artist's own imagining, thus rendering human art as profoundly spiritual and, because of these implications, deeply ethical. 4 pgs, bibliography lists 4 sources.
